House Milward

House Milward is a contemporary reinterpretation of the farmhouse, composed of three distinct gabled volumes carefully ordered by function and use. These volumes are linked by a sequence of flat-roofed pathways that preserve privacy while ensuring fluid movement between spaces.
Rather than relying on rustic tropes like stone cladding or barn doors, the design draws on the essence of a country farmhouse through its gable roofs, slim profile, and lofty interiors with exposed trusses in select rooms. Clean lines, elegant proportions, and a restrained material palette give the home a modern refinement while retaining its rural spirit.
A strong relationship to the outdoors anchors the design. Large expanses of glazing and clerestory windows invite daylight deep into the interiors, frame views of the surrounding landscape, and enhance natural ventilation. This seamless indoor-outdoor connection establishes an atmosphere of comfort, openness, and relaxation throughout the home.
